Bonobos and people at Wamba: 50 years of research”という本をSpringer社から出版しました。

Online seminar:Future Perspectives on Bonobo Research and Conservation: Celebrating 50 Years of Research in Wamba.

The research on bonobos in the Luo Reserve, Wamba, Democratic Republic of Congo, has reached its 50th anniversary since Takayoshi Kano's first visit in 1973. Throughout this period, the research faced interruptions due to political instability in 1992 and the Congo Wars from 1996 to 2002. Despite these challenges, the lineage of the bonobos under study has continued, with the oldest male identified in 1976 now estimated to be 54 years old.
Unfortunately, due to various circumstances, the research is currently suspended again.
However, the results of this extensive research have been published in the book "Bonobos and People at Wamba: 50 Years of Research", authored by 40 contributors, at the end of last year.
In this online seminar, we aim to discuss the future challenges and prospects of bonobo research, as well as the current status and issues of bonobo conservation, which is becoming increasingly critical. We will hear from leading researchers and conservationists from various fields to explore these topics.
